Dear loyal customers and friends:
After much consideration, Julie and I have decided to close our beekeeping store. This will also include the ending of extraction services.
Our final day was February 20th, 2021.
While COVID-19 has had an impact on our industry and business, it is not the driving factor for closing our business. Both of us work full-time jobs in addition to running the store, manufacturing and assembly work, researching products, mentoring, and trying to run our own beekeeping operation and small farm.
We have come to a new chapter in our lives where we want to pursue new interests and activities. We also want to have a little more fun together, play with the grandkids, and just not work so hard. While we will miss seeing many of you on the weekends, you will see us at the IEBA meetings once we are past the COVID shutdowns.
In addition to my wife, I want to thank 3 outstanding individuals who have done so many things to help us out:
Jim Lewis has been a part of our team, always willing to lend a hand, mentor customers, and offer his experience to help others. He has also been an incredible assistant on package bee days.
Richard Knowlton who many of you know is our “Tech assistant.” Not only does he answer emails and tinker on our website, he often assists with computer work and even some of the videos. He has been a huge part of processing package orders and working with customers. He will be taking over our wholesale honey accounts.
Jerry Tate. Jerry and I work very closely together on many fronts. From discussing customer problems that have arisen (usually mites, swarms, queen issues) to IEBA training topics and everything in between.
Thank you so much, gentlemen, for all you have done and continue to do for us and the local beekeeping community.
We will still have a small beekeeping apiary and will do everything we can to support the IEBA. We look forward to being able to continue education both with the club and in the creation of educational videos. Stay tuned!
